Here's the Easter banner that was created at the recent Faith, Fun, Food and Friendship gathering by a group of folk of all ages. We enjoyed making it and each of us added something unique to the mix. It conveys something of the darkness and light that intermingle in the Easter story.
"I would not creep along the coast, but steer out in mid-sea, by guidance of the stars." (George Eliot) If we are true to Christ, the journey we will take is not for the fainthearted. But we will be guided on our way by the example of those who have gone before and by the vision of God's Kingdom that lies on the horizon.
"They will beat their swords into ploughs and their spears into pruning-knives". (Isaiah 2.2-4) The recent tragic events in the United States, made me think again of the dream of the prophet Isaiah, that, one day, all people will “walk in the light of the Lord” and in the way of peace. This vision seems a long way off. However, as Christians we continue to pray that God’s will be done on earth and that God’s Kingdom will come. We hope and work for peace. We also affirm that, as Isaiah says, true peace can only be built where fairness and justice are valued and acted upon.
