Church groups are asking all folk to join in prayer at 7pm on Sunday evenings. Last Sunday, thousands of people across the UK answered the call to pray at the same time in response to the COVID-19 pandemic. Following positive feedback from last week's prayer initiative, a further letter has been signed by 13 Christian organisations across Scotland, including the Church of Scotland. The letter states: "We pray in solidarity with those across Britain and Ireland and in solidarity with those across the world who face the challenge that the Covid-19 pandemic brings." The Rt Rev Colin Sinclair, Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland, said: "When so much is not normal how lovely it can be to come together at 7pm each Sunday and have a few moments in which we can pray together. Locked down There were other doors once locked in fear, in a time of waiting and distress. It was an uncertain, questioning time - longing for what had been known and treasured before. Into that space, calming and soothing, came these welcome words - “Peace be with you.” Peace be with you in every worry, in every sleepless night, in every loss experienced, in every comfort now distant. Peace be with you in every certainty, in the shared burden of these days, in the unexpected connections, in the gift of another sunset and sunrise. Peace be with you and yours, the deepest peace, the strongest peace, the peace that passes all understanding. Christ is our peace and is in our midst. Here's the Easter banner that was created at the recent Faith, Fun, Food and Friendship gathering by a group of folk of all ages. We enjoyed making it and each of us added something unique to the mix. It conveys something of the darkness and light that intermingle in the Easter story.  

“God, who made the world and everything in it … does not live in human buildings” Sadly, in the present health crisis, we cannot gather in church. Isn’t it great, however, that God is lovingly present with us wherever we are!
